What RAIW does and does not do

What RAIW does not do: RAIW cannot process video files. If the AI label is on your video itself, this tool will not help.

What triggers the YouTube thumbnail AI label

When a thumbnail carries a C2PA Content Credentials manifest from an AI generator (ChatGPT, Adobe Firefly, Google Gemini, etc.), YouTube can apply an AI-generated label to the thumbnail automatically.

YouTube also runs visual detection alongside metadata checking.

What RAIW removes from thumbnails

RAIW strips the C2PA Content Credentials manifest and other AI provenance metadata from the thumbnail image file. The C2PA removal is permanent.

Note: YouTube's creator policies around AI disclosure are separate from the automatic label — removing metadata from the thumbnail file does not change your obligations under YouTube's terms of service.

Can RAIW remove the AI label from a YouTube video?

No. RAIW processes image files only (PNG, JPG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC). It cannot open or modify video files. If the AI label is on your video content itself, this tool will not help.

Does removing the C2PA metadata remove the label from the YouTube thumbnail?

It removes the C2PA signal from the thumbnail file, which is permanent. YouTube's thumbnail detection is primarily C2PA-driven, so removing the manifest removes the metadata-based trigger. YouTube may also use visual analysis independently.

Does this affect my YouTube creator obligations?

YouTube's creator policies may require disclosure of AI-generated content regardless of what metadata the file contains. Removing the metadata from the thumbnail image does not change your obligations under YouTube's terms.
